Ella’s Story

Ella, 26 years of age, was raised with both parents; she studied up senior three, and she dropped out of school due to an early pregnancy. Her father was a witch doctor, and different men used to come to their home. One of the men was working closely with her father, and the father wished him for her daughter. Her father sent her to the man who sexually used her and got her pregnant, and her father got her married.
After getting pregnant her father got her married at the age of 16 to the man who abused her sexually. The marriage was abusive and she left though it didn’t please her father. She looked for job so that she can support her boy child, she worked in bars and restaurant but she not contented because they were paying her less. On 4 th job in one of the bars, she got someone who tell her that in Kenya there a restaurant which is looking for waitress and it pay good money to workers. She picked interest and begged to taken to Kenya and work. She was trafficked to Kenya through smuggling and reaching there, the job was doing prostitution not waitress work. They confiscated national and she was with option other that engaging in sexual exploitation.
She exploited for two years until one of the girls who was newly recruited, she did whatever she could and got her way to police and report how they are recruited from Uganda and exploited. They rescued them into an organization called HAART Kenya, the organization helped them with court sermons psychosocial among others. They brought them back to Uganda and connected to Rahab Uganda for further support.
She was enrolled in the Rahab program, where she was supported with rent, upkeep, and medical care. She also joined the skilling program, and she picked interest in tailoring; she can make trending fashions and designs. she has graduated with the December 2023 batch. She is transformed; she no longer engages in sexual activities; she is a transformed individual, a good mother with a changed mindset. She is saving to set up her own business for effective sustainability. She is dreaming of setting up a big diary.
